‘SLEEP ON IT’ are the two physical result of the TiSp Itinerant Residence Project made by Ines Balesteros and Michela Dal Brollo
‘SLEEP ON IT’ are the two sleeping bags that at night enveloped our thoughts as they settled and stirred in sleep. During the day they became our travel diaries, tools for recomposing experiences, relationships and places.
Their multidimensionality takes shape through the artist’s narratives and a material research developed through the experimentation of DIY techniques, using materials collected along the way.
On the sleeping bag you can see:
Sleeping bag 1 –
An archive of pockets that hold the different ingredients exchanged during the trip. Each pocket has a story related to the collected ingredient and the space where it was exchanged. The pockets and sleeping bag were dyed with plants collected on the way.
Sleeping bag 2 –
A map of the journey, woven from nettle fibres during long train journeys, traces our movements. Scattered fragments of conversations and drawing, made with DIY ink. Pockets containing “Space Recipes” of the different stops and the kit that was used to exchange ingredients has become an archive of smells.
Thanks to all the neighbours, collectives, associations and friends who hosted and helped us build this collective recipe by exchanging ingredients and stories.
